The Parish

Daria Klanac : An unbelievable degree of pastoral activity is found in the Parish of Medjugorje. Throughout the entire year, seminars are held, spiritual renewals, encounters, etc. Some 628 priests from 43 different countries were listed in the register for annual retreats in July of the year 2007. Thousands of youth from 58 different nations participated in a Youth Festival in August of that year. These good tidings are not reported in the media. Should one be saddened by this?

Arnaud Dumouch : Those spiritual fruits are incontrovertible. They lead these priests to an even greater loyalty to the Church and to their calling. None of those priests fall prone to the two extremes that delineate the Twentieth Century (integralism and progressivism); rather, they all turn to a renewal of their calling and to preaching in union with the Magisterium. This last manifestation is for me as one who occupies his time with theology, most impressive. This is an entirely new situation and completely contrary with that which held reign over the last forty years or so in Catholic Universities.

This is a clear mark of the presence of the Holy Ghost as indicated by the words of Jesus (Mt 16:17), “… this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Heavenly Father.”

As regards the fact that Catholic publications or the “world” fail to report on this, that would sooner be seen as being a good sign, again, according to the words of Jesus: (John 14:16): “… and He will send you the… Spirit of Truth that the world cannot accept since they do not see Him or know Him. You know Him since He remains and is in you.”
